The bankruptcy 'reform' bill that Bush signed does NOT go into full effect until 10/17/05, so you still have time to file under the 'old' bankruptcy laws. The only provisions that went into effect immediately had to do with homestead exemptions that affect states with unlimited homestead exemptions.

You don't have to know the TOTAL of all those medical bills, but you DO have to make sure all the providers are included in your bankruptcy.

2ND "MEDICAL", NOT IRRESPONSIBLE "OVER-SPENDING" BANKRUPTCY - WILL IT PASS?

Indiana.
Thanks Lady In Red. I Have Always Been Responsible But When One Is Hospitalized With No Health Insurnce, You Can Lose Everything Overnight. And It's Happened Again.

As Everyone Knows, The Bills Start Coming Out Of The Woodwork.

It Has Been Over 7 Years Since My Last Br -(chapter 13? - Release From Repayment - You Can't Squeeze Blood Out Of A Turnip) Yet I Am Terrified That After Working Many Years (even As A Legal Secretary) That I Will End Up Homeless Or Something - Even If That Sounds Irrational.

This Is A "medical" Bankruptcy, Not An Irresponsible "overspending" Bankruptcy.

I Agree That Knowledge Is Power. Any Other Thoughts Or Info Would Help Me As I Have Been Sick. We All Fall On Hard Times And Believe Me, I Have Fallen. Thanks.

Medical bills is the NUMBER 1 reason for more than half of all bankruptcies filed. Go ahead and file and get out from under it. Consult with 2 or 3 attorneys and get it filed before 10/17/05.
