What is the name of your state? Illinois

My father's attorney refused (advised?) to allow me to be POA for dad because I recently filed bankruptcy. He said they could access his financial information because my name would be attached as POA. I can't find anything anywhere to support his view--including advice from my BK attorney.

It would be better if anyone else besides you (another family member or even an attorney) would be named POA, because the temptation would be very great for you to spend this money for your own purposes instead of spending it on your father's living expenses, which is what you are supposed to do.

that's not true

My bankruptcy was due to circumstances beyond my control (illness and my husband in Iraq for a year!). I am not irresponsible and in fact, before my illness, I was a financial advisor and managed his investments! There is no way I would use my father's money for anything but his own good--temptation is not even an issue.
