The place where I work we receive about 90% of tips via credit cards and we too out an average of 5 - 6% of total sales. I've always felt comfortable claiming very little at the end of shifts due credit card tips are automatically claimed and my tip out wasn't being deducted. Anyways, I've recently found out that my employer is claiming cash tips for us and not only that but they change the amount we enter that we tipped out. I decided to go to the hr lady and had my phone recorder on.. She clearly admits it, then adds on that they need to cover their end. Any advice?

It's hard to argue their actions when you come to the table with unclean hands.

To start with my advice would be to provide your state like you were initially asked.

Are you saying that your employer is increasing or decreasing your cash tips?
