My divorce was in Kansas 4 years ago, my ex was ordered to pay maintenance for 36 months. He paid it for 5 months and then filed bankrupcy. Can try to collect it now? I have moved to Missouri.

Maintenance and child support are NOT dischargeable in bankruptcy.

You are still entitled to your payments.

You did not state whether he filed a Chapter 7 or 13. If he filed a 13, you would likely be receiving his payments via a bankruptcy trustee.

Regardless, he can't "get out" of maintenance payments, IF the court classified them as such.
