What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? fl
yes, i could update my old thread. but, as you guys say, it lacks "white space"
so here is what happened...
2 days before mediation we spoke on the phone. i gave her the short version of some things i found about over the weekend, and told her that although i knew she was getting $750/mo, and that i owed 10k in back, could we work something out? (i learned at mediation, that NO, the back pay wasn't addressed the 1st time around, and that even though i'd signed a paper agreeing to it, they denied it AFTER i left!). she said she'd consider it, and let me know the night before, as she knew(and has known) about the issues with my 1st wife. so we go to mediation, and she has a list of things she "wants".
the 1.5 months i am behind-within 2 weeks
life insurance at $125k to begin no more than 30 days, naming her as beneficiary
me to cover every insurance
me to cover half of other expenses
750/mo + 50/mo back support
i tried to reason with her, and i brought up what we'd talked about. and she said that she didn't care, it was her turn now and her child, and she didn't care about my daughter(which is fine, i get that, no harm done). so i offered her $600/mo and 2 $5k payments. she said no. i offered her $675 and the (2) $5k payments. still said no. both times, she wanted the 2 lump payments, PLUS 850/mo(meaning, 850/mo for reg. support, then 2 payments for back support).
then i say, ok how about $700/mo, and 3 lump payments of $3333? she says no. she was stuck on the $850/monthly, AND the 2 lumps of $5k i offered.
by this point, i was upset, because all she'd keep literally whining, was "you don't know what it takes to raise a child"...so the mediator asked, if i'd be willing to pay just the guideline amount of $900/mo and give her 5 payments of $2k, for 5 tax years? i said "hell no, i'll agree to the 750/mo plus 50/mo back that she wants"...so, the paper work is typed up, and she's reading it, already signed it(and yes, i have to say "id10t" to this), she's sitting there texting someone at the same time giggling, etc, and looks at me, gets this strange look, and says "what about the lump sums?!" HELLO! if she'd looked at her paper, i was giving her what she wanted! *I* brought up lump sums, to lower the monthly payment.
either way, i don't have to carry life insurance. she said she couldn't afford it, and also said she didn't see why i'd need it if she died. so her lawyer said "if he doesn't need it, you don't either"...wow, ok, crazy! so she says she carries health on him, and dental, but not vision. ok, but she asks i carry him also. well, today the wife takes all the insurance papers in, and my HR benes lady says "if the child is already on a policy with the insurance, they will NOT stop/add a child to another policy". so i have to split copays with her, no out of pocket expenses, except when he's with me. and i didn't know it, but when she agreed to the 10k in arrearages, it included the month and a half i was behind.
ok i wrote a novel, and i know ya'll hate when we make new threads. but thought i'd share my experience. again, i'd have added to the other one, but no white space
