my partner wants to adopt my daughter

my name is nikki, i've been with my partner for 8 years we have a 7 yr old boy together, we also have my 9 year old daughter from a previous relationship. we would love it if my partner could adopt my daughter. My question is do i need permission from my daughters biological father? he has not been involved in any part of my daughters upbringing and is not named on her birth cetificate.
