What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? ky
I got married to a woman with a child. the father ran off with the child was born. There has been no contact with him in the 4 years of the childs life. She has tried to track him down but he doesn't want to be found. I want to adopt him as my own. How should I go about doing it. The guy isn't even on the BC because he bailed out during the early months of pregnancy.

First hire an attorney. Second, this sinks grandma's chances of custody and reconsideration because she needed to serve the child's FATHER and any putative fathers by a John Doe posting -- if she didn't do that, the custody bid fails.

Please keep all your posts together. It makes it much harder to have to search your history to find out about the grandmother custody information, for example.
