So I went to SSA office today to apply for SSn and they allowed me to use my husband's last name. My EAD card is on my maiden name as well as my I-485 was filed using my maiden name. My question is, can I change my maiden name to my husband's last name on my AOS interview which is next month? I read somewhere that you can but just want to really make sure because I am really worried.

In what location were you married? Neither the SSA nor the CIS can change your legal name.

Well I was able to change my last name(use my husband's last name)with the SSA. I just showed him our marriage certificate. We were married in Nevada. My only concern is with the USCIS. Since my I-485 is with my maiden name. Because we didn't know that time that I can use my husband's last name. I have my EAD in my maiden name. Although I've read from other's experiences that I may request change name during my AOS interview so that my green card will be on my married name. Just hope they will allow me and hope our marriage cert is enough to prove it.

While the SSA may allow a name change on THEIR records, it does NOT reflect a legal name change. This was the point I was trying to make.

Again, I can not begin to answer YOUR questions unless you ANSWER mine. I am not going to write a book here on what the 50 states and federal application to names and marraiges are. AGAIN:
