What is the name of your state? tx

does anyone know if the NCP can legally enroll a child in Medicaid, since they are ordered to provide health insurance?

I don't believe they can since the child lives with me and my husbands and I's income is well above welfare guidelines.

Anyone?

In the 2 states I've lived in, you can't get Medicaid on children unless they live in your home.

If, somehow, he gets around that by defrauding them (like saying they DO live in his home) they'll come after you for child support too! I know this because my kids' insurance is in their home state, and when I have them here for 3 months in the summer, I'd seen about getting them on medicaid since their insurance wouldn't cover them here in my state. (They have Peachcare). The DFS worker told me that sure, they could be on M'Caid while they were here with me, but that they'd go after my ex for CS. Even though he's the CP.

i really dont think he will be able to lie to them, they have been in the system so long I think they would want proof , like school or custody papers to add her.

i think your best bet would be to call the medicaid office to find out. our cp recieves cs and medical insurance thru ncp work but chooses not to use it. instead they allowed her to sign up for medicaid in addition to medical insurance provided. i don't understand it myself. sorry couldn't be more help.

well i understand why they would let a cp do it, because the child lives with them and if the cp's income qualify's they will let her use the medicaid in addition to the insurance to help her cover her costs since she would still be responsible for half uncovered expenses. Since medicaid is not welfare the ncp doesn't have to pay it back.

I see why they allow it, not that I agree with it.

I will be calling the medicaid office first thing in the morning.

Thanks!
