Good question - I myself often wonder what the Board is for, especially when a Board doesn't act like a Board should, but simply wants to "play Board".

Go on record.

Go to your Board & Association meetings and get this item on the agenda. Then speak about it at the meetings. Then make sure that the coverage of this issue is documneted in the minutes.

Again, file a police report and have the police investigate. That is what your taxes are paying them to do. Get a copy of the police report and make sure the Board gets a copy.

It is correct that only you are responsible for following up with your personal losses and any cost to replace lost items - unless you can identify & charge the perps with criminal behavior and the court holds them responsible for restitution.

Most of all - fight, make noise and be a force to be reckoned with - within the law, of course.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info ecmst12.
Wondering, what the Board is for then? The bldg mgmt has been outsourced to mgmt company. So the Board is only for name sake?

Best,
MS

**A: a property management company cannot act as the Board and make decisions pursuant to the HOA documents.
