Need Help!!!!!!!!!

What is the name of your state?Maine

I have an invention that I think will be extremely useful in for anyone who has a computer insdie their vehicle, especially law enforcement officers which I am one of...I have absoultely no idea what steps to take to get a patent on this invention or how to find out if there is currently a similar product...I would greatly appreciate any advice.

First, search www.uspto.gov for patents and patent applications.
If it's not there, it's probably new.

Then, the best step, if you got a few K to invest in this
is to go to a patent attorney who can give you a patentability opinion,
do a more extensive search, compile an application and file it.
