What is the name of your state?GA

I live in a rented apartment for 9 months now. When we first moved in, we noticed the carpet was very dirty and old and quite worn. I wanted it changed, but my husband felt they wouldn't, so we asked them to clean the carpet - which they did.

It was not cleaned properly, still smelled terrible and looked the same. I went to the store and rented a rug doctor and cleaned it myself again - but it seems the carpet is even smelling worse - and I did use the proper chemicals.

I have a toddler and I am concerned about him rolling around in this mess. I vacuum like 3 times daily - I guess hoping to get rid of the dirty smell. We are a very clean family - the last apt we were at - they actually decided to keep the carpet for some additional time - even though they had planned to replace it when we left - but it was in such good condition - the apt folks were surprised and said to me - well we can give it some more use !

So, does the apartment renters have a responsibility to change this nasty smelling carpet if we ask them to ?
