What is the name of your state?PA

Okay, I have been working on clearing up our credit reports so that when DH finishes school and we have to move, we can buy a house wherever he ends up working. I have had little problems with his CR's, however mine are another story.

I got a report in my maiden name from Equifax, I called them because I haven't used that name on anything to do with credit stuff since 1991. They said some creditor had reported it as my current, valid name and I would have to send them proof that it wasn't. Now, I had already sent proof once, but I went ahead and sent it again, exactly what they asked me to send.

Then Saturday in the mail, I get an update CR in my maiden name, saying they had updated the account to reflect my maiden name as being my current usage name.

On top of this, they took student loans which were defaulted in 1992 and put them back on my report, two of them, one is showing DOLA of 04/2004 and the other 03/2005. Now, I know this is reaging and illegal, I have filed another dispute under their fraudulent practices disputes.

However, I need to know what other recourse I have to make them fix this? The name thing and reaging of these accounts is just getting ridiculous. I was hoping some of my friends here could tell me what else I may need to do to get this fixed.

Thanks!

The CRA's are complete IDIOTS. It boggles the mind that you could send them proof - TWICE - that your maiden name is NOT what you go by anymore yet they send it back to you with the SAME ERROR on it.

Under FACTA, you have the right to dispute the erroneous reporting directly with the furnisher, so that is what you'll probably have to do. Since this old SL debt showed up, my guess would be that THAT is who is reporting the old name.

You are probably right Lady, and they also know by now that I haven't used my maiden name in years, but I am guessing they don't care!! I will get the addresses and notify them as well. Thanks.
