I live in PA with my parents. I'm 19 years old. Im not sure if this is in the right section so please redirect me if needed.

My problem:
our neighbors have two dogs that have chased after us when we get our mail treatening to attack(our mailbox is in there yard accross the street. The neighbors put up an invisable fence to keep them in there yard. My brother gets on the bus in the morning and is barked and growled at by the dogs till the bus comes. The other day my mother called the neighbors to ask them to please keep the dogs in there house while my brother gets on the bus.(the dogs seem to be only let out when we are outside). Then just today we recieved a letter from our neighbors saying that they have the right to take our mailbox out of their yard and throw it in ours.(we are not allowed to have the box in our yard because of the route.) and they treatened us by saying that if we harm their dogs in any way we would be reported to the animal abuse thingy.

so what are we suppost to do? and we are not getting a post office box or moving our box way up the raod.

please....any information will do!!!

Buy one of those squirt bottles at Wal-Mart and fill it with water. Squirt it in the dog's or dogs' face or faces if they get close to you. It doesn't hurt the dogs, but they hate it.

They cannot pull up your mailbox without possibly incurring the wrath of the post office; doing that kind of stunt a federal offense.

yea i figured it was a fed offence but can they call the post office and request it be removed and have it removed just like that or does the post office need to investigate the situation? in their letter they also said that they contacted the post office and it IS possible to do so.

They can call anyone they want and say anything they want.

yea but are we obligated to move our mailbox? or should we wait to be contacted by the postal service? cause if they move our box themselves it's a fed offence and they could get in some serious shiznat.

Mailbox locations are generally on the roadway right of way, not on private property. If the box is within a few feet of the road, tell the neighbors to kiss your behind, there is nothing they can do about your mailbox location. It is very rare for someone's property line to extend to the edge of the road.
