What is the name of your state? MI

(This is not me-but a relative.) Filed bankruptcy including house and b/k was discharged in Dec. 06. $$ saved in the interim to more than cover first and last months rent for an apartment complex. Income stable and adequate, 5 years on job, no dependents.

Is it best to tell the Property Manager about the bankruptcy upfront as you hand in the finished application? It would seen so, as they will find out when they check the credit. Am wondering how complexes as a whole handle former bankrupts. Person could probably get something decent from a Mom and Pop landlord around here. Lots of vacancies and foreclosures. Would rather be in a complex. Michigan has the highest unemployment rate in the US.

Most printed applications ask if applicant has filed BK so applicant should say YES and it will pull up on the credit report. It will STAY on their credit report for 10 years so this situation will be around for a long time.

Best to apply and be up front. If applicant has stable employment, I disregard a BK if it was discharged over 6 months ago....Frankly, the applicant has no DEBT so I am more likely to get my rent.... HeHeHe.
