What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Wis.

Hello!

I bought a car at a new car dealer, agreed on a price, put it in writing in that boilerplate contract they all have, and signed it.

Upon delivery they gave me a 'new' contract with a new (higher) price, saying that our verbal deal was X over invoice..even though I never saw that invoice, and presumed the price on the contract i signed was that price. Now, they're saying the 'new' contract reflects that x+ invoice price, and refused to sell me the car at the agreed upon, signed price. I left without the car, as I felt they were basically extorting me...or in legalese modfiying the original contract w/o my consent.

They called later that day and offered me the car at the original price we agreed and signed for. Am I obligated to purchase the car now, or does their breach of their own agreement constitute a termination of my obligations? I'd like to walk away from the whole deal, it was just so deceptive..and ugly.

If an attorney with the correct answer could respond and identify yourself as such, i'd appreciate it.

I know how to locate an attorney...

..I wanted some of that "Outstanding advice at the unbeatable price"....from someone with actual qualifications to offer it.

I guess you missed the terms and conditions:

The FreeAdvice Forums are intended to enable consumers to benefit from the experience of other consumers who have faced similar legal issues.

There are plenty of posters here who could answer your question (although not based on the incomplete information you've provided), but when you demand credentials from the volunteers, you're not going to get many answers.

I'm not exactly sure how advice from a non credentialed individual would help...we're talking legal matters here. Surely, there are lawyers who help out here, aren't there?
Anyways, thanks for clarifying what the expectations of the site should be. I'm not sure how those with no knowledge of how the law works or is applied can be anything other than anecdotal..and maybe entertaining.

and there are some very well educated laymen out there as well.

If you want legally dependable legal advice, pay an attorney.
