What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

SC

I am 19 and have started work as a waiter. I am having trouble deciding how to fill out my W4. I am single and will not be a dependent this year.

I had put 2 on Line 5 and Exempt on Line 7 but someone at work told me that is not right. I will make less than $5000 for this year including tips and I don't want to have to wait until the end of the year for a tax refund.

Please help. What is the correct way for me to complete the W4 and not have to have a lot taken out of my check. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

You should be OK to claim exempt for federal income tax this year. Not sure what the limit will be to file for 2010, but in 2009, it was $9,350 for a single individual with no dependents.
