What is the name of your state? texas
I was wondering what the new law on banruptcy is. can my husband and i still file? what are the requirements you must meet to quailify for bankruptcy?

Before you can file, you'll have to complete a credit counseling course within 180 days of filing.
If your income is above the median for your state, you will automatically go into a chapter 13. Also, even if your income is below the median if you have $100 disposable income you could be forced to pay a small percentage of unsecured debt over 60 months.

One of the provisions of bk reform is, lawyers are required to inform clients that they do not need to retain a lawyer to file.

You can still file Pro Se, but there's no way I 'd do it under this new law. There are far too many new pitfalls and convolutions, its a nightmare !
