I was an electrical contractor, but not the license holder. It was a corporation in the state of CA. In March 2008, I removed myself from the corp. In 2009, a prior client sued and was awarded $ in 2010. The award was for job abandonment. The Sate of CA was in contact with the license holder for job abandonment. Although the job was never done, it was not abandoned, because it was never paid for, nor was there a contract signed. Howver, my ex-partner ignored the request by the investigator, and issued a judgement against him. The proposal was dated 2004.

NOW, in 2010, I receive a letter from a collections agency, that is representing, American Indemnity Company, saying I have to pay for this.
I did not know that this action occured and wrote to them and told them to contact my former partner. They sent me a copy of the Indemnity bond with both our signatures, BUT, there is NO DATE on this document.

The claim was made in October 2009. Paid around February 2010.
There was another bond made after I left the company and only one signature in 2007. When he left, he took all the paperwork, tools etc...he has also disappeared.

I have good credit and do not want it ruined.
What do i do?
