I got a ticket for no proof of insurance in
Kansas I was driving a friends car and I could not find his proof of ins. but I was and am insured. This was in Jan of 98 and I forgot about it until now I have a document showing that I had insurance at the time I was ticketed. What do I need to do now?
Is it a possibility that I can talk to the prosecuting attorney and get this dropped without going to court?

Thank you for any help you can give me.
I would appreciate any replies go to this

I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

If you got the ticket back in 1998, it may too late to fight it. You need to check with the court for the proper statute of limitations. I hope you already paid the ticket and not just let it sit around.

As to fighting it, even if the Statute of limitations has not run, you had a chance then to fight it. I don't know what you want to accomplish with it. Perhaps an order erasing it from your driving record?

check with the court to see if you can even take it to court in the first place.

Hope this helps.
