Hey guys - I am an online Tutor for two different companies (I am paid as an independent contractor from both). I work for each of the companies since together they give me enough hours, but alone, they don't have enough hours for me to work to cover my expenses. One of the companies is asking me to sign a non-compete agreement so I don't offer services to a competitor -- is this enforceable for an independent contractor? Is there anything I can do to get out of it? I really need the income from both tutor companies. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi defscott627,
Almost all big companies say to sign this type of contract, even some companies don't allow to do freelancing or any extra job in free time. But I think this contract only validate until you are working with than company. Second option you discuss it with your first company that increase the aount or give you permission for second job. And if you are a good online tutor then you can join some leading online tutoring websites where millions students from all over the world for study help.

I'm sure that the OP's situation has been resolved at some point in the past nearly-ten years. Please don't post to long dead threads.

Additionally, advising the OP to violate a contract is foolishing.

Lastly, I've reported your post to have the reference to the commercial concern removed from your post.
