What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? I was adopted in Massachusetts in 1970. Today I went to the agency that I was adopted out of to request my non- identifying information( My birth parents age, health history, etc). The man at the agency told me that he would look into it but would not be able to give me anything if the adoption was labled as closed. It was my understanding that this was information open to all adoptees in the state of Massachusetts. Can the agency's rules trump those of the state? If I am refused, is there anything else that can be done?
