What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NYC
Lived in same place for 12 years, unregulated nyc apt part of mgmt company. Have a dog that lived here for 5 years (since 8 weeks old). Received a non-renewal. Initially told the mgmt company can choose who to live here. But upon further asking they said they don't want my dog here.

What are my rights?

The dog should be grandfathered in so they can not renew me because of that

I know you have had this dog a long time, but your city /state landlord tenant laws offer people with regular pets no extra protections, It is entirely possible that your landlord may have chose to slowly switch this property to pet free / no pets -dogs allowed so the easier solution for them instead of telling you to get rid of the pet they have chose to not renew and unless your lease promises you a renewal every year then they can and have made a choice.
