Nonresident parent's right to delegate visition time

my ex and i have "shared parental"
my son lives with his mother and she provides visitation.
there is a question as to how much time i am allowed to have my son spend time with his grandparents (my mother and father)
1) are there any laws or cases that address this issue?
2) am i allowed to let my son be with my parents only a certain amount of time or do i have the right to let him be with his grandparents as much as i desire?
3) how/where can i research this issue so that i will have information when this goes to court (i am representing myself)

If you start dumping the child with your parents all the time, then the mother will be able to petition the courts to reduce your time. Visitation is supposed to be for the bio parents. Yes, you can take him round to GP or aunts etc, but bottom line is it supposed to be your time. If a pattern develops where you are not spending time with the child, then you may find that time reduced.

What are you going to court for. Please give exact details.

the mother is taking me to court on a "motion for contempt (violiation of order establishing father's visitation/parenting time). your conclusions were completely accurate.

i am a concert violinist and therefore have many performances in the evenings.
i get my son one overnight a month (the first weekend each month from 9am sat. to 6pm sun.).
during the concert season (oct. - april), it will often occur that i will use my parents as sitters.
i will spend time during the day and my parents will tuck my son in at night as i will get home past my son's bedtime.
my ex has cited, in her motion for contempt, many of these instances and, in her motion, insists that i use my visitation time only to delegate time to the grandparents.
this is not so.

how can i prove how things really are? that i only use the grandparents as sitters. the only time that my son is alone with his grandparents are when i am working.
