i moved out of where i used to live due to unusual circumstances. most of my stuff is still there. i have recently found out from a reliable source that in my absence i have received several important letters which when received were then opened, read and destroyed with out my consent. in fact when ever i called to see if i had receieved any mail i was told 'no'. this has resulted in many problems in my life. i live in california and my question is , does she have the right to read my mail? even if i am not on the title or lease to the house? is this an oillegal and if so, what is the offense?

My response:

Yes, it's oilegal. But, you'd have to prove your allegations.

When did you file your "Change of Address" form with the Post Office ?
