What is the name of your state? IA

My payday is on a fridays. I went in friday evening while still being off of work due to a medical injury, and they informed me that I could not get my paycheck until the following monday when the bosses would be back. They were out of town for the weekend. I know int he past other employees have recieved their paychecks while the boss was out of town so why can't I ? I thought paychecks were supposed to be available at any time during business hours after they are doen for the employees?
I believe I am going to get fired due to being off work for one week. That is why I believe they are trying to withhold my check from me. No, I do not have ne outstanding payments tht need to be made to them. In fact they owe me more money that what is comming on my paycheck. What do I do? Im in a financial bind now thanks to them. Hope a check doesnt bounce on the way to the bank!!

There is nothing in Federal law and I cannot find anything in Iowa law that says your paychecks have to be given to you at any time during business hours.

Under Iowa law, they must give your your paycheck within 12 days of the end of the pay period. If Monday is still within the 12 days, they are technically legal.

It is NOT smart to write checks before the funds are actually in the bank to meet them. If fact, it's illegal.

Whether or not they can fire you for missing one week's work depends on a lot of factors you have not shared with us.

Financial/unethical dismemberment.

California.

Hello,

I was recently employed as a loan processor (entry level) by a Mortgage Broker in Orange, California. After 3 weeks of employment, all by myself, I resigned and walked out. The company is a disaster; dysfunctional and mismanaged. The broker has NOT paid me a dime since my initial employment and after several attempts (direct phone calls, leaving messages, etc.), he continues to ignore. No hiring employment package was initiated even after couple of requests and he enforced upon me illegal and unethical stuff to implement and work on (one of the other several reasons of my dismissal).

Another week has gone by with no outcome or response. I do not have financial strength to hire an attorney. What must I do? Any help/advice will be highly apprecaited. Thanks.

Evershine: For the record, it is a violation of message board protocal to "hijack" a thread by posting your own question onto someone else's. In future, please start your own thread instead of adding your question onto an existing thread, no matter how relevant.

Since you are new here, I'll answer your question in a hijacked thread this one time, but don't do it again, okay? :)

Your recourse is to contact your state department of labor and file a complaint for unpaid wages.

Thank you pointing out the forum violation to which I was unaware and appreciate your feedback. PEACE.
