What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Maryland

Sorry Road Rage.

OK, this Tues morning I was involved in a road rage incident. It somewhat happened in two counties. I have a case number. However, my thing is neither county is being cooperative. Both are saying go to the other county. My car was damaged in the incident in one county Anne Arundel County I met up with the police officer in the Calvert County County he was a Deputy Sheriff. I have a case number with them. Due to the jerk throwing something at my car. However, when they caught up with the driver, of course he is saying I threw something at his car. However, he threw something at mine and the first time he did it went under my car and back at his. Then he threw something at my car a few more times that is when it was damaged. Then, while trying to get away so I couldn't get his tag he ran another car off the road. I slowed down to ask the driver if they were ok they just said yes, just go get his tag number. But I don't think the person he ran off the road called it in from what the officer were saying. I was hoping he did so I can have back up to my story. But I guess not, so it's just going to be a he said she said situation? In addition, he was from another state. Is it worth it to go through with it? My friend said I should. She is with another police agency a few cities over. Then I have another police friend saying I should let my insurance deal with it. I like the last option. Because the police are just giving me the run around. My thing is would I need a lawyer, I just don't have the money and I don't like having this dent in my car.

Full Story
12/29/15 day of incident
On the morning of Tues dec the 29th around 5:40am I was on my way to work I merge onto the highway rout 4 south me and this car switch I see a car coming they were pretty far back and I see them slow down I thought they were letting me over because he slowed down. Then it was also a clear lane to the left of him. So I get over after I shut my blinker off, we get almost a mile up the road, he starts to get closer I can't speed because it's raining and visibility isn't so good at this point I'm going about 61 in a 55. So I put my flashers/hazards on and stuck my hand out the window to let him know to pass me. I was also in the slow lane anyway. So he gets a little closer now his lights are very bright I can't as it is due to it's raining pretty bad then add his bright lights into the mix. So I lightly tap on my brakes twice he gets even closer. Mind you, no one is on the road he had a clear lane to get over in the fast lane and get in front of me miles before. I thought he was an older person they tend to do this a lot. Due to judgment issues. So I let off the gas to slow down to 56. Finally, he get's over then cuts me off almost hitting the front of my car. So I had to slam on my brakes. So I flash him two or three times pretty much saying you cut me off. So he gets mad jerks over to the left of me gets behind me and put on his brights on so I push on my brake slowly slowing down so he gets back over on the left of me near my back window throws something at me whatever it was rolled and bounces under my car than my tire I think it went back and hit his car and he throws something else at me it was pretty big it looked white then a few seconds later he slows down by this time I'm calling 911 then comes up again then throws something else. He speeds off also most side swipes this car I slow down to ask the driver if they are ok, they tell me yes go get their car info. I figured he would run into traffic because I always do because it's a few exits so I see him, he is stuck behind this car or truck because of this gas truck so I am on the back left of him I get his tag. So we come to a light, he blows past a red light to get away. My light turns green I'm thinking it's over I get to the next light, he is there he get's out start waving his arms, then get's back in his car the light turns green he starts following me, I'm sill on the phone with the dispatcher I tell her to have the cop meet me I find a place to make a u turn I think he saw me on the phone then turns off into a shopping center. I meet the cop I'm telling him everything he said another cop caught up with him, he is saying I threw something at him too. I get my case number and I ask the cop could I go to work because I am late, he says yes, I also ask him to tell the other cop to meet me at my cop. But he never did.

Thank you for any help.

Thank you for sharing. I'm not sure what you want the police to do...should they cite/arrest you both? You were both driving aggressively and you each are reporting that the other driver threw objects at you. In fact, it could be said that your aggressive action (the brake-check) was the precipitating action of this entire thing.

How did I brake check him? Brake checking is slamming on the brakes not slowly slowing down, nor letting off the gas. How was I being aggressive by trying to take my time in the rain? By showing him multiple times that he could have gotten over? I am the only one with damage. I did not slam on my brake till he cut me off.

Your point? I can't break check someone who is in front of me. And just touching the brake, pretty sure it's not brake checking, if you are not going to help and just act like a child please just don't post.

You brake-checked him because you felt he was too close to you. You admit that you did it...

ETA: Twice.

If your brake lights came on, you were brake-checking, whether it was a quick tap or a full-on slam.
