Just me in the car. Is there any reason to go to court or should I just plead guilty by mail?

I am nearing the end of my 6 month probationary period on my license. It's not up now, but will be by the court date.

Thanks in advance.

I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

Well, considering you are still on probation, I don't think calling attention to yourself in open court by fighting it is the answer. Pay the ticket and be more careful next time.

Hope this helps.

Lawrat,

Perhaps I should rephrase. Am I putting my license in jeopardy by admitting guilt before my probation is up, or would I do better to accept a verdict of guilty in court after my probation is over?

I think this is not considered a moving violation, so I would be ok to just plead by mail, but I'm not sure.

The $50 is already spent. Although I think it's a ****ty law, I broke it and I'm prepared to pay the fine. I just wonder if it would benefit me to have the conviction come after the probationary period.

Thanks for the reply.

Okay, I see what you're saying. You are afraid that if the conviction came after, it might jeapordize your license coming off the probation. Got it. I am not sure. Since it is something that might affect the license (possible suspension?), may I suggest the following:

I suggest you contact your local legal aid foundation and ask an attorney there. Since they deal with small and big issues, they may have just the answer you are looking for.
