What is the name of your state? CO

As I posted earlier - I received a collections attempt from an agency concerning an account that was paid in full 4 years ago. I first heard from them about a month ago and promptly submitted another dispute through Transunion, and sent a letter of dispute to the collections agency.

I haven't heard from the collections agency since - it's been about 2-3 weeks. I just got the dispute result from Transunion and they removed Direct Merchants, and the collections agency from my report entirely.

Does this mean I'm in the clear? Or is there something else that could pop up? I would like to think that this means it's all over, and I can say goodbye to Direct Merchants Bank forever....Am I an optimist?

Two entirely different things --

It sounds like you have successfully removed the error from your credit report. That does not mean that you will not receive more phone calls from the collection agency. You could even be sued.

Do you have receipts etc from when the account was paid off? If so, send the collection agency a cease and desist along with a copy of the paperwork.

If not, I suggest you contact DMB and ask them for a paid letter or a statement with a zero balance.
