I work overseas as a DOD Contract Employee (I work as GS position for the US Government, but through another company). The US Army personnel that run this camp have no experience dealing with us Civilians, espeically when we make complaints concerning health and well-being. Currently, we living sleep tents, just like the Soldier... No problems there. Our concern is with the fact non of these HUGE Catepillar Generators have any sound dampening mass around them, and generate deafening amount of noise. I have done several decades in active duty military, as many of my co-workers as well... I know for a fact that the military is required to follow OSHA because I was a Safety representative for my unit when I was on Active Duty. Unfortunately I'm unfamiliar with the Army's structure, and the Local Command here doesn't seem to listen to our complaints.

Question. Even overseas does the Army have a resonsibility to provide the safest work environment as possible? I am NOT in Iraq, but I am in the Middle East? I'm namely talking about the hearing loss that's occurring?

Question. Does my employer have any responsibility to ensure I don't lose my hearing?

Question. Who do I file a complaint or make a lawsuit against if I have Permanent Hearling Loss, or other medical conditions caused by the environment? Nothing related to actual warfare or enemy actions mind you.

My company is actually out of Colorado, and I know that it's required to follow US Law. This is the first installation I've been to that is making no efforts, even our sister Camps aren't this bad.

Thank you

Earplugs? They provide them on the range and at airports, aircraft carriers but you're not going to get away from the vibrations.
