Hi,
I live in NC and got a ticket in Faixfax, VA for "reckless driving speed 86/55" in the HOV lane last June. I was in VA for the 1st time and looking for direction to the airport to drop my friend off for a flight, I should have gone slower but I was so tired and didn't realize speed limit is 55. The cop was on the other lane of my direction and he turned around to catch me. I don't believe I was traveling at 86(should be around 82,3), but I didn't ask him to show me the speed he clocked me at. On the ticket, it said I have to be in court in this coming August and the interesting thing is the cop wrote my name down completely in wrong order(last for first, first for middle, middle for last...), but everything else about my address, driver's license are all correct. My questions are:
1) How do I reschedule the court's date? Should I?
2) Why do I have to appear in court? (the cop made me signed the block indicating the appear). Can I just pay it and not appear?
3) Should I even appear since technically, the ticket is "not" under my name?
4) If I show up, should I hire a lawyer and point the mistake out from the ticket or what can I do to defend myself in the court, on what basis?
5) If I find guilty, will I get points from NC's DMV?
6) Any good lawyers that you can recommend in
Fairfax, VA and how much does it cost?
Any help would be appreciated,
Thank you.

Mute point.. but not knowing the speed limit is always irrelevant when travelling over 80 MPH :)
