I live in CA but own a condo in WA that I am renting. I received a SUMMONS wherein the defendants are myself and a "John Doe" who is allegedly my husband per the SUMMONS (but I'm not married). First, is the SUMMONS legal if it names a "marital community" as the defendants? Second, are my rights governed by CA law or WA? Lastly, I've been in correspondence with the attorney for the plaintiff and already have responded in writing on numerous occasions. What is the purpose for asking me to respond again? I intend to resubmit my 100+ page response I've provided in the past. What is the point of the SUMMONS?
Thanks!

that is what you get served with when somebody is suing you. It should have given some direction about answering or responding to it. You usually only have a limitied amount of time to respond.
