What is the name of your state? NJ

My sister was called into her HR dept this morning and told that she's been over paid for the past 2 months. Apparently, when they gave her a raise, someone keyed in the wrong amount. She was supposed to get 4% and instead they gave her 6%. Unfortunately, my sister never figured out the exact dollar amount. She just looked at her paystub when the raises went into effect.

She's now getting ready to go out on disability due to medical illness. Her employer wants her to repay the monies owed before she goes out.

Can they do this? It was the company's mistake - not hers.

And if the payroll person had accidentally keyed in 2% instead and your sister was underpaid for the past two months, would your sister be looking for backpay????

Of course your sister has to pay the money back. She received compensation she wasn't entitled to.
