What is the name of your state? Louisiana
In 2002 i got a copy of my credit report. I had got a copy of my credit report. On it there was a debt of a credit card that I had when I was in college some years ago. The credit report said that the date of status/last reported was 7-1999/7-1999, and written off with "x" amount of dollars recent balance/ recent payment "x" dollars as of 7-1999. When I got my credit report the other day, this same debt was on my credit report but this time the date of status/last report was 7-1999/4-2004,past due as of 4-2004. The recent balance/recent payment was "x" amount of dollars as of 4-2004. It is cofusing to me because I didn't send these people any money. And it look like they have reopened the account without contacting me with a payment of $10 as of 4-2004. On the old credit report it said that it would continue on my record until 1-2006 but do you think that it will stay on my record for an additional 7 years? What should I do?

It's sneaky, but it hasn't been reaged as long as the orginal chargeoff date is showing. A new colletion agency just updated the status.
It'll fall of in 06. Here are some staff opinion letters.

Go to www.creditboards.com and start with the newcomer thread. See if you want to get involved in credit repair and see if this'll come off sooner.

If they ever drop that orginal chargeoff date, you have a reaging issue and have grounds to sue.
