in the state of califonia, what is the procedure for terminating financial responsibility/liability for a minor child that is out of control? My adopted daughter is now 15, and has been diagnosed as having "reactive attachment disorder" that has not been possible to treat with any success.she is bascially sociopathic and unable to control her impulses and we fear that criminal and antisocial behavior are inevitable.i have heard that it is possible that she be declared a minor out of control by the courts>

You think her problem is not physiological? Though it should probably be a last resort, has she been treated with drugs to no avail?

Please don't abandon this child.

exhaustive efforts by both physicians and therapists for the last 11 years have failed to sufficiently modify her behavior. She has been admitted to mental hospitals on three different occasions, and has been through several different drug therapies. Her condition may also be aggravated by inappropriate drug usage by her birth mother while pregant with her.At 15, she has already been engaged in criminal activity (stealing) for several years, and I have been required to pay fines on her behalf to various establishments. she has announced her intention to run away from home, and at that point will be literally out of our control.as i stated before,criminal/civil repercussions seem inevitable in the near future, and we only seek to protect ourselves finacially from the result of damages that are out of our control.
