Can anyone tell me what rights a person has if they have signed over their parental rights? My brother and his girlfriend had a baby way too early. They fought ,drank, and did drugs. One night ,after his girlfiriend stabbed him in the back ,my brother and his girlfriend went to jail.Their baby was taken away to Dss.They live in Sc.It has been 2 years. They have not improved much. They are seperated at the present .Neither work.My parents have had Brett for two years .They are in the final process of adoption. Now my brothers ex-girlfriend is threatening she is going to get her parental rights back(they both signed these over so they would not have to continue to pay child support, which they never paid anyhow). Can she do this?Is it possible for my parents to lose the baby?Would the courts really work this way?My parents and Dss gave them every opprotunity to change. My brother and his girlfriend have both been in jail. She has an outstanding warrant for her arrest in Sc right now for beating up her sister.I know my question is confusing and longwinded any advice will help.Thank you so much.
