Can I sue the Department of State for no issuing my passport? I applied almost a year ago. I was born in the Texas border with the assistance of a midwife, people like me are being denied their passports because for some time midwifes committed fraud and issued birth certificates to children not born in the US Now the State Dept is requesting that I provide them with a ridiculous amount of evidence to prove my citizenship, I sent them what I have, but still no passport. When I call them they say "it is being processed".
My husband and I applied at the same time, he got his passport about a month later, in July 2009, I am still waiting.
Thanks, Texas

My mother in law also had this same issue with the passport agency as she was also born in Texas with a midwife and then adopted. She got the issue resolved through the congressman. I have also had to call them for passport issues and they responded very quickly and I had my passport within a week. You may want to try that route. They will be able to get further than you will alone.
