paternity court order

My fiance and I recently had baby. He is in the US Army stationed at Fort Drum, NY and I live in Lafayette, LA. They stated to him for the baby to have insurance coverage and for him to receive a pay raise to support the baby he would have to have a court order stating that he was the father. He is not contesting it in any way. I would like to know what I have to do to go about getting a court order.

did your fiance sign the birth certificate accepting paternity?

will a certified copy of the birth certificate not work? if he signed the bc then he is recognized by the state as the father.

if he was not present when the child was born, when you were discharged from the hospital you should have received a copy of a paternity paper. fill the paper out and send it to him. all he has to do is sign it in front of a notary and send it back in to the state. his name can then be added to the bc. if you did not receive a copy of the paper when you left the hospital you can request from from the Vital Statistics office from your state. You can run a search for government offices. This will be the same place you order a copy of the bc from.
