So I received a speeding ticket yesterday in Oregon while driving home from the beach. I live in Clackamas country and was hit with the ticket in Brenton country, it's a very long drive and I'm not going back to fight it since I was speeding. My problem is the court date is already set for the 24th, and the fine is for 260 dollars. There is no way I can come up with that much money that quick, since I'm paid bi weekly. I have a 20 year driving record and this is the first ticket I have ever received from a Police officer so I am unsure is 260 is high or not. But I did also receive a ticket by a camera recently(which I am going to fight) that was $165.

I'm unsure what to do with this, it looks like I'm supposed to mail this back and send a check? (people still use checks?) If I call do they give me other options like payment plans for later after the court date and not before? If I send a note back with the citation and choose no contest, is there any chance they will reduce it due to having a 20 year clean driving record? Sorry, lots of questions, just hoping someone has some experience with these in Oregon.

Why aren't you calling the court and asking about payment options and the availability of payment plans?
