pension, and social security

I live in California, My girlfriend, who I intend to marry, has a handicapped daughter. She has been divorced for around 10 years. If I marry her, will that ruin her chances, of getting part of her Ex's pension, and ,or Social Security, for her daughter. Thank you Rusty49

If you marry your girlfriend she will not be able to draw benefits from her ex as long as she is married to you. Her daughter(who I assume is on SSI)benefits could possibly be effected by you and wife to be's income. Now, her child would be able to draw benefits off of father's record as soon as he becomes entitled. Her benefits would be as a Disabled Adult Child. These benefits would not be effected if mother remarries.
