What is the name of your state? Michigan
I am writing because I need to find out information for my father so he can get his pension. I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right place, but I guess this is a good starting point.
Here are the only details that I know:
My father worked for a factory called "Diamond Heat Treating" in Detroit, Michigan for about 30 years. In early 1997 he found out that the factory was going out of business. Being the good, hard worker that he was, he decided to work up until the last day, and then switch over to his new job that he had gotten.
Apparently Diamond Heat Treating went bankrupt, and everyone who stayed the last two weeks and worked, could not get their pension. As far as we know right now, the money from his pension was confiscated, and is in Washington D.C. because Diamond Heat Treating went bankrupt. He also said something about them being "underfunded".
Now he is trying to get his pension. He wants it all in one lump sum - and is willing to pay any and all penalties, including a lawyer.
His problem is, is that he cannot seem to find a lawyer that deals with helping you to get your pension for you.
Is this even possible for him to do? If so - are there lawyers that deal with things like this?
I apologize in advance for not having a lot of information. If no one is able to help me, that is okay. I thank you for taking the time to read through this.
Thanks again!
