Issue: I previously had a loan with a personal finance company. I originally paid the loan off in August of 2006. Since that time I have been dealing with the company in getting it reported as paid, but as of yet it has not been done. I have contacted the credit reporting agency and they are advising me that they have not received confirmation that it is paid in full. I have spoken with the VP of Affairs at the loan company, and he tells me to take it up with the credit agency. Does anyone know if there are any legal steps that I can take to get this matter resolved?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

You file a dispute with the three credit bureaus. They have info on their sites on how to do so. You can get much more info on these sort of issues over on www.creditboards.com

Thank you for the information. I have actually already filed the dispute, and they are saying they cannot do anything because the company has not reported it as paid. I will go to the site you suggested tho. Thanks for responding! :)
