What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

A foreclosure was conducted while attempting to modify the loan and personal property was listed and sold with the house. It was never returned before or after the foreclosure. There was no notice ever regarding the personal property. What would be my remedy for the lost property? Do the sections (CA Civ Code Sec 1980-1991) regarding abandoned property for tenancies apply to foreclosures in this situation?

When the foreclosure happens, the new owner (probably the bank) owns the lot and everything on the lot which is to say the home and everything in the home.

Nonsense. Once the foreclosure happens, the occupants must be evicted (if they don't leave voluntarily) and that involves the removal of the personal property.

Were you not living on the property when it was sold at the foreclosure?

Were you OCCUPANTS

or

had you just left a bunch of stuff behind, resided elsewhere and provided the foreclosing lender/attorney no forwarding address?
