What is the name of your state? South Carolina

My house was sold recently in a foreclosure sale, somehow the mortgage company found a way around notifying me about it, I kept sending checks they were nto cashed and I was not paying attention as I should have, but I know it is too late for the sale to be reversed, so I contacted the buyer to attempt to buy back the home, or to find out when he wanted me out by, no response though I know he received the messages I sent.

I went by the other day and the locks are changed, my personal property is still inside, I had removed most of it, only a few things left, stove, portable apartment style diswasher, area rugs and curtains. I had left him messages detailing what was left in the house, but he never responded but did forward those messages to someone else to read.

What legal recourse do I have to recover my property or compensation for its loss?

I had alos just installed a new window unit A/C, since the house had been broken into and the old one was stolen, but I realize, even though the house was under foreclosure at the time, the A/C became a fixture when I attached it.

That seems to jive with all else I have learned about South Carolina's property laws, when in doubt, you are screwed. I found out they were not required to notify me about anything along the way and we have no right of redemption in this state.

Unfortunatly proactive required foreknowledge. I had alot going on and did not check to make sure checks were clearning as I should, my notice that the house had been sold was a letter on the front door by the buyer, I took the day to contact the Master of Equity to confirm the sale, contacted the new owner notifying him that I had removed most of my property, but needed a day or 2 to remove the rest of the property, the next day when I went by the locks were changed.

I guess I will just have to chalk it up to one more reason never to borrow money again.
