Ok, forgive me if this is obvious...If I have 2 separate items and one item can be inserted into another item-but doesn't have to be; it is optional and the item is complete and functional without it. I want to have an illustration of both parts adjacent to each other and indicate where the optional part can be inserted. Would I use projection lines or phantom lines to connect the parts? And do you put an arrow on the end of the line?

Thanks! I swear I am almost done with questions-this is due tomorrow!!!What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Doesn't matter. Use whatever method makes the most sense to describe your invention.
