you all seem to know a whole lot about a whole lot, so I thought that I would pick your brains about something. . .

I was reading the thread on the statute of limitations on checks. . . well. My not-so-money conscious hubby wrote a few bad checks WHILE IN THE MILITARY in the state of CA. I believe that he had his residency changed to CA, but our residency is currently Ohio. These are checks and various debts dating back to 92, 92, 94, 95. Any info on those?

Plus, we attempted to clear up his credit report a couple of years ago and paid off several accounts that were derogatory. We just ran a new credit report and several are still there still showing derogatory. Is there anything I can do besides calling them AGAIN? I HATE talking to these creditors. (and my loving hubby isn't very good at it, he just yells:))

Thanks again for all of your great advice!!

Regarding your second question because I don't know the statute of limitations on bad checks.

Call each of the credit bureau's Equifax (800)378-2732, Experian (888)397-3742 and Trans UNion (800)888-4213 and tell them you are disputing some tradelines on your credit history. They will each send you a dispute form to complete. Fill out the report and send it back to them with whatever proof you have that you paid these items. They should get it cleared for you.
