What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Ohio

I use to attend a church in OH. I no longer attend this church. While I was going there they took some pictures of me and my family and are now using those pictures of posters, flyers, and pamphlets for advertisments. I feel that they are exploiting my image and using it to make their church appear a certain way. (It was an african american church and I am caucasion) I have asked them to remove these images but they are telling me they don't have too because it is their right to use my image. I understand that the pictures were taken in a public setting (there church building) but I really don't want them using my image. Do I have any rights in this situation? If so what law protects me? Also it should be know that I have a disability. Is this a violation under the ADA?What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

You may wish to have an attorney take a look at the photo of you and your family, to see how the photo is being used by the church. It is possible the church is "misappropriating" your image for a commercial purpose and this misappropriation could result in an invasion of privacy tort action being filed against them.

Whether any legal action can be pursued, or is worth pursuing, however, will depend on what exactly is depicted in the photo, how prominently your image is displayed, and how exactly the photo is being used, as well as what is determined after a review of any other pertinent facts. A cease and desist letter from an attorney to the church may be all that is necessary to stop the church from using your image in the manner you describe.
