I live in Illinois, and would like my husband to adopt my 4 year old daughter. Her biological father doesnt pay child support and hasn't seen her in year and half. He doesn't call to talk to her. I recieve a text from him about ever 3 months just to ask how she's doing. But he never calls and that to me means he doesn't care too much. What all do I need to prove that he's abanded her. I would love for my husband to adopt her since the last 2 years he's been her dad!

For starters, your husband is NOT her Dad. Fostering that lie is bad for the child - and possibly bad for you if the real Dad makes an issue of it.

Furthermore, Dad has not abandoned the child if he's checking up every few months. In most states, abandonment means NO contact.

You need to see an attorney. Adoption is never a DIY affair.

And... the man ho conceived the child is her FATHER. No need to include "biological" as a qualifier. He is the only one she had. Your husband is her STEPfather.
