Isn't there anyone out there that can describe what happens after the judge sentences you to active jail time? It would help if you are from virginia but at this point I don't care.

Hi! Once you are sentenced, the judge is going to tell the bailiff to take you into custody. You will probably be in a holding cell for a few days until room is made for you in a block. Depending on the length of your sentence and the severity of your crime, you will either stay in the county/city jail for your remainder, or you will be transferred to another facility, usually far away from home, (including other states) but that's usually for Federal crimes. I am a native Virginian, and being as though we are a commonwealth state, we,ve got it bad!

what kind of sentence are you facing? most of the time if you are sentenced to county prison the judge will let you report on your own. the holding cell thing varies with different facilities. some will put you right into a housing area while at others you're basically in solitary confinement for a while.

Unless you get weekends, I would expect and prepare for immediate jail time. Normally, if the judge sentences you to jail you will be handcuffed by the Deputy Sheriff (bailiff) and taken to a holding cell comewhere in the courthouse until you can be transported to the local lock-up or jail. I wouldn't count on having any time to take care of things after your trial. Expect to be taken immediately into custody. Hope this helps

Just a second after judge sentenced you, you will be taken in the custody right away as ur arm will be seized by the guard to guide u to the cell without saying good bye to your love ones or ever lawyer.
