What is the name of your state? Washington State

I work in a doctors clinic, not a private practice but a cooperative, and we hired a new doctor who started in February 2007. He started out great, but soon started insulting me and another nurse, including in front of patients. It started out small-too small to even report, but quickly became blatent.

We reported him to our manager, who i'm finding out is all talk and no action, and the behavior became worse. I finally had enough and made a formal complaint to our "Chief of Staff" who is also all talk and no action. Why dont these people wear the balls God gave them? (Sorry getting off track). The other nurse wouldn't file a complaint because she "Didn't want to make waves."

When this doctor found out I filed a formal complaint against him he has made my life miserable! He starting throwing fits about me working with him and eventually he threatened to cancel his clinic if I did work with him. We have two other docs in the clinic that I work with, but they dont work everyday. On the days that this doc is here by himself he has me pulled from the clinic to work somewhere else in another department and they bring a float in to cover me.

I have contacted my union, but they told me that managment needs to deal with this. Which I dont understand why I pay union dues, then when I need their help they refer me back to someone else. (Sorry, again getting off track).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Oh, a little background: This doctor has other complaints on his file from other jobs, and yet we still hired him. ("We" meaning managment, not me)

What kind of abuse? Sexual comments or touching? Just plain rude and unprofessional?

How many employees?

Verbally insulting. Making rude statements and comments, including in front of patients, about my experience or what he thinks is lack of experience, when in fact I was just taught a different way than he was doing. That's just one example. BTW I have worked in this specialty clinic for 2 1/2 years. I have documented all the comments and have given copies to my manager and Chief of Staff. They seen to be accomidating him instead of "Sticking up" for me.

This is a large cooperative, it is state wide. There are probably 7000+ employees in the state.

So basically I need to just deal with being pulled from my own department and put in another department that I dont have experience in.

The dept I work in is a dermatology clinic and I have been pulled to Rhumatology, Consultative Internal Medicine, and yesterday I was in Gastrointerology!

Hey, before you start in derm, you had no experience in it, right? You can learn in the other departments, just as well as you can learn in the current one. Good luck.

That's right.

It is not illegal to be a jerk.

Unless you have a bona fide contract that guarantees that you will never have to work in any department but "your own", they can put you anywhere they choose.
